My name is Brooke, and I am the owner and operator Evermore Ridge, one of many luxurious West Virginia wedding venues near Charleston, WV. I often see couples grappling with numerous questions during their wedding planning. In this blog, I will cover just a few of the commonly asked questions couples ask me about our wedding venue (some of which will apply to all Charleston, West Virginia wedding venues!). Whether you're the bride, groom, or a supportive family member, these answers will help with some of your planning process!

What Time Should My Wedding Be?

Selecting the right time for your wedding can dramatically shape the mood of your celebration. Most couples lean towards late afternoons or early evenings as these times offer stunning natural lighting and a romantic atmosphere as daylight fades. It also allows for more time to get ready for your day!

I always suggest to my couples that they look up the sunset time on their wedding day. For instance, if your wedding is on November 2, 2024, Google search, "what time does the sunset on November 2, 2024." For fall weddings, the sun sets earlier, allowing you to align your ceremony with the sunset. This timing lets you experience the golden hour during your ceremony, as captured in this beautiful photo! In the summer, remember that the sun sets later. You might want to head back outside for sunset or golden hour photos. If these photos are important to you, try to plan your day of schedule accordingly.

What Style Shoes Should I Wear?

Selecting the perfect shoes is key to both comfort and style, and the venue and season play a crucial role here.

For an outdoor wedding ceremony, like Evermore Ridge wedding venue near Summersville, WV, prioritize shoes with a firm sole and moderate heel that you are able to comfortably walk in on different types of terrains. Ideal options include sandals, flats, or block heels, as these are generally easier to walk on gravel and grass. Also, remember to break in your wedding shoes well in advance!

What Size Are Your Tables for Linens?

Understanding the sizes of our tables is essential for selecting the perfect linens and creating a classy atmosphere. Our venue offers a variety of table shapes and sizes:

  • Round Tables: 60 inches in diameter, seating 8 guests comfortably.

    • 120-inch linens for floor length

  • Rectangular Tables: Available in 6-foot and 8-foot lengths, accommodating 8-10 guests

    • 8-foot tables require 90 x 156 inch for floor length

    • 6-foot tables require 90 x 132 inch for floor length

Do You Have WiFi?

Definitely! In today's connected world, having reliable WiFi is essential. Our venue features high-speed WiFi, allowing you and your guests to share special moments on social media or stream the ceremony for loved ones unable to attend. We provide our vendors and the couple with the WiFi password, and it is up to them who they share it with.

When Should I Make RSVPs Due?

I highly recommend having your RSVPs due no later than 30 days prior to your wedding date. Having your final guest count accurate 30 days out helps you in the final stages of your wedding and also gives your vendors time to prepare for your day.

I understand it might feel uncomfortable, but for guests who haven't RSVP'd, I strongly suggest sending a polite text to request a response. You can copy and paste this message to each person who hasn't replied to ensure you have an accurate guest count. This approach can help you save money since many vendors charge per guest, such as caterers, and it also allows you to order the correct amount of wedding favors, programs, and more.

Can I Do a Rehearsal Dinner at Your Venue?

We provide two wedding packages that include the option to hold your rehearsal dinner at the venue! Both our Ultimate Wedding Package and Exclusive Wedding Package offer the convenience of hosting your rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on-site. This helps you save money by eliminating the need to reserve a separate location for your rehearsal dinner.

Can I Customize My Decor?

Yes! We love to watch couples make their weddings unique and personal. From flowers and centerpieces to lighting and signage, we encourage creativity.

Although there are certain limitations on modifying the venue's structure, we encourage couples to include their preferred colors, themes, and decor styles. We offer complimentary decor to our couples, but you're also welcome to bring your own!

What Happens if It Rains or Snows on My Outdoor Wedding Day?

Weather concerns are a common topic for couples choosing outdoor venues in West Virginia. Thankfully, our beautiful white reception space or covered sunset patio can both serve as a stunning alternative ceremony space.

As your wedding day draws near, we work closely with you to come up with the best back up plan for your day if an indoor venue if needed. With some planning, you can enjoy peace of mind as your big day draws closer.

What Should I Expect from Catering Services?

Food is often a highlight at weddings. When selecting a caterer, it is crucial to have a clear conversation with them about what their services include. Are they simply delivering the food, or will they also serve your guests? Do they assist with any of the cleanup? Who will clear the tables after the guests have eaten? Open communication ensures you are well-prepared and helps maintain tidiness throughout your wedding day.
